Making Every Interaction Simpler: Natural Language and the Audi Experience
Making Every Interaction Simpler: Natural Language and the Audi Experience
The simplest interface may be the one customers already know how to use: their own language.
Natural-language AI can reduce the distance between a customer’s intention and the organisation or vehicle function that can help. Instead of learning menu structures or exact commands, people can describe what they need in familiar terms.
This capability is an important part of the customer-experience and automotive work being developed through the collaboration between AUDI AG and Nouveau Riche Group.
People do not speak in database fields
A customer may know what is wrong without knowing the official name of the relevant component or service. Traditional systems often require exact categories, which transfers organisational complexity to the customer.
Natural-language understanding can interpret different descriptions of the same need and ask a clarifying question when necessary. That can make contact more accessible and reduce the number of incorrect transfers.
Conversation needs controlled context
A useful response depends on context. The same phrase can mean something different depending on the vehicle, current process, location or previous question. However, context must be collected and used responsibly.
The system should know which information is relevant to the interaction and which is not. Permissions, purpose and privacy should determine access—not technical possibility alone.
Language must lead to reliable action
Understanding a request is only the beginning. The system must connect that understanding to verified knowledge or a permitted process. It should distinguish between answering a question, suggesting a next step and executing an action.
In a vehicle, those boundaries become especially important. A request involving an authorised comfort function differs from a question about a warning or a task that could affect safe operation. Natural interaction should never make responsibility less clear.
Designing for low distraction
In-car interaction must be concise. The objective is not to create the longest or most expressive response, but the shortest response that is complete and safe. The system may need to defer detail, confirm an important action or recognise that the current moment is inappropriate for a complex exchange.
Audi has already publicly introduced natural-language and generative-AI capabilities in current models. The work with Nouveau Riche Group advances the broader customer-contact and automotive experience planned for model-year 2027 vehicles.
Accuracy across languages
Multilingual capability is more than translation. Terminology, service availability and customer expectations differ between markets. A dependable system needs controlled language resources, market-specific knowledge and evaluation that reflects how people actually speak.
Making complexity disappear
Natural language is valuable when it makes access simpler without hiding important boundaries. The customer should be able to ask a normal question and receive a relevant, accurate response—while the complexity of routing, retrieval and system integration remains in the background.
That is a central opportunity in the collaboration between AUDI AG and Nouveau Riche Group: transforming sophisticated AI into interaction that feels clear, controlled and effortless.
